Pest Control 2: Attack of the Death Worms

Pest Control 2: Attack of the Death Worms is now finally available as an ebook. With the first two stories in the Pest Control series now having been released into the wild, and thanks to Draft2Digital they are available in a lot of places, (most I’ve never heard of, lol), I’m finally able to turn my attention back to something I was working on last year, the killer baby story. I was reluctant to pause on this one, as I was really chuffed with how it was coming along. But, I really wanted to get those two Pest Control stories out of the way with and the last edits took longer than I’d anticipated. So now it’s pretty much full steam ahead on this one. Another tentative step on the indie writer/author journey. Chasing the dream of being able to earn a living doing something that I love. At almost 50yrs old, I hope I have enough time left to achieve this, even in some small way. I was thinking today of something my friend John said to me a while ago when I was in one of my (regular) hopeless moods. He said, “Don’t put yourself down, Sean. Don’t ever. Because in life, there’ll always be plenty of other people who’ll try to do that. So don’t do it to yourself. You’re better than that.” I don’t think of myself as being better than anyone else. I just want to be me. Gimme some paper and a pen, a supply of tea, biscuits and chocolate, and I’m a happy chappy.

Pest Control: Birth of the Death Worms

My short story, Pest Control, is now available as an ebook. At the moment, it's only on Amazon, but I should have it on other ebook platforms soon. I'll post the links here when I do.

I'm currently doing last checks and edits on Pest Control 2, which is a much longer story and more of a novella length. I'm aiming to have that one ready and released before the end of the month, fingers crossed.

How things are going.

 I'm continuing to work on the updated edition of the first Pest Control story, and also its sequel. New edits of these with cover art, etc. I had quite the setback over the summer when my computer died and it took me over two months to eventually get a replacement. I lost a bunch of stuff on that and yeah, it was frustrating to say the least. This past month, I've been trying to put together cover art for both of these, but it's rather difficult when you have a zero budget and are aiming for something that's eye-catching and doesn't look crap. I did lots of drawings and sketches to work out different ideas. Trying to condense a story into one image is quite the challenge. It was stressful, and I felt that I'd lost a lot of writing time on my killer baby story, as up until then I'd got around three-quarters of the way through it. Anyway, I'll soon be back on it and hopefully I'll have it completed by the end of the year, which creeps every closer.

DUSTING OFF AN OLDIE

 I do have a story that I'm currently working on which, until it's released, I'll refer to as The Killer Baby Story. However, today I spent the afternoon doing a quick re-edit of a short story that I wrote some time ago. It is the first story in the Pest Control series. It's been available on Amazon for a while, but  has only ever received a couple of reads. I'm going to do a new cover for it as I've never been happy with the one that it has, which I did myself as a physical painting then scanned it into my computer. I've also got some new fancy pants editing software so I figured I'd put the story through that, and tidy it up a bit. The new edit has made a decent difference which I'm fairly happy with. So now I need to put it through my new ebook formatter, Atticus, and then start on the new cover art. I have a few ideas for the cover. I'll do another post to show the stages of this.

The second story in the Pest Control series is also complete. Just needs a go-over with my edit software, which should hopefully be fairly painless... The first one was a short story, but this one is much longer, a novella. It took me a long time to get it done as I had lots of personal stuff to deal with in my life which really effected my writing. I'm aiming for 2024 to be a bit of a fresh start, so fingers crossed.
